Chelsey and I pray that all of you are doing well and looking forward to a very Merry Christmas as we celebrate the true meaning of this season.
Considering it has been a while since we have connected with many of you, I wanted to reach out and update you on some big changes in our lives. Recently, I announced my candidacy for the United States Senate in Georgia. This probably comes as a big surprise to many of you. For those who only want the Readers Digest version, I will do my best to share that with you quickly. Prior to this calling, I really thought my public serve years were behind me. As some of you know, I served two terms in the Georgia House of Representatives and left unopposed after completing two terms. However, like many of you, I have been very concerned lately with the path our country is going down. Through a series of incredible events Chelsey and I have felt the Lord very clearly leading us to make a quick 180 degree turn to run for the United States Senate.
While it will not be an easy path and will certainly require a lot of sacrifice on everyone’s part, it is a decision we reached together as a family. As we counted the cost, we all agreed that it pales in comparison to the risk my brothers took while serving on the front lines in Afghanistan. Every generation has made sacrifices to overcome the challenges facing our nation beginning with our Founding Fathers. Those men signed off on the Declaration of Independence with these words, “With a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor“.
We often talk about the problems in Washington, but we seldom have an opportunity to do something about it. This is one of those moments and I recognize that we can’t carry this burden alone. I have long been inspired by this quote. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
With that said, we also understand that not all of our friends lean conservative, and many are in different seasons or may already be maxed out serving/giving in other capacities. However, if you feel led to support us, there are several ways you can engage in this mission. We need prayers, volunteers, and donations regardless of where you live. If you have concern with the Democrats controlling the White House, Congress, and the Senate, then you’ll agree that winning this seat is of paramount importance. We only need to flip one seat to stop President Biden’s big government socialist agenda. Experts say this is the most likely seat to flip, making it the most important race in the entire country.
As it turns out, I am the only one in this race with previous legislative experience and a proven track record as we run for the highest legislature in the land. I do not believe this is the time to roll the dice and take a chance on sending a celebrity to Washington.
I will leave you with a favorite quote that has long inspired me to persevere and make this world a better place. “All it takes for evil to prevail is for men of good conscience to do nothing.“
